Welcome to our Small Stones class for children aged 2–3 years old. Our aim is to provide a happy and caring environment where children can foster a sense of belonging and security, allowing each child to develop confidence and self-esteem.

At our nursery, communication, language and talk are at the heart of everything we do. We carefully create a calm, natural environment that reflects children’s schemas, interests and fascinations, allowing them to feel secure, engaged and inspired to explore. By following each child’s unique motivations, we thoughtfully plan and extend their learning journey, supporting them to make excellent progress.

We are passionate about providing rich linguistic experiences and fostering a language‑rich environment. Storytelling, high‑quality conversations and the intentional use of meaningful vocabulary are woven throughout daily practice, helping children to develop confidence in speaking, listening and understanding.

Our setting is designed to include Communication Friendly Spaces, where children feel encouraged to express themselves and interact with others. We place a strong emphasis on oracy, vocabulary development and purposeful talk, recognising that high‑quality interactions between adults and children are key to building strong communication skills and supporting lifelong learning.

We work closely and alongside families in partnership, which ensures the very best outcomes for children and creates a collaborative environment that enhances a child’s learning and development. We hold termly 'Stay and Learn' events where we invite parents to come in and spend time with their child in class. This is a valuable opportunity for children to showcase their own learning and is a wonderful chance for parents to see how they have developed their own sense of belonging within their school life.
